The University of Pretoria's Mamelodi campus Bachelor of Science students are to benefit from a five-year Absa sponsorship worth R10million.

The University of Pretoria unveiled a four-year BSc programme at the beginning of this year offered at the Mamelodi campus and the Hatfield campus. About 150 students were admitted to the programme at the Mamelodi campus.

The sponsorship announced yesterday will benefit 50 students each year and every student will receive R30000 for five years.

Absa will also allocate R500000 bursaries to 10 students who choose a career in finance in their second year of study and onwards over a five-year period.

Absa CEO Louis von Zeuner said the bank is proud of its relationship with the university, one of the most prominent institutions of higher learning.
