Bangladesh bombs in rainy match

Bangladesh went down fighting in their Standard Bank Pro20 match against South Africa at the Wanderers, Johannesburg, last night, losing by 12 runs after chasing a rain-adjusted target of 122 in 14 overs.

Bangladesh won the toss and sent South Africa in to bat.

With the score on 71 for two, the South African momentum was broken by a violent thunderstorm.

They returned briefly, but were forced off after two deliveries by more rain.

When they returned after a total break of 49 minutes, the match had been reduced to 14 overs a side.

South Africa ended their 14 overs on 118 for seven.

Man of the match Abdur was the hero of the Bangladesh attack, finishing with figures of four for 16, while Shakib took two for 31.

Bangladesh were set the rain-adjusted target of 122 for victory at eight runs an over, and for the first eight overs, were well on target but in the 10th over, captain Johan Botha managed to restrict the visitors to just three runs. Johann Louw did the same in the 12th over
