Maxwell Mohoto was a born entrepreneur. He used to sell chickens around the township to make a living. He later opened the Mthombo Restaurant and Bar in Dobsonville.

Because of his status as an entrepreneur in the community, needy people frequented his restaurant for free food.

He was a member of the St Angela Catholic Church in Dobsonville.

Mohoto was born in Matatiele, Eastern Cape, on March 23 1931 and moved to Johannesburg when he was only 16 years old.

In 1959 he married Margaret Zondi and they had five children.

Mohoto died on October 23 after a short illness.

He will be buried tomorrow at West Park Cemetery. The service starts at 8am at the St Angela Catholic Church in Dobsonville.
