After money for maintenance has been deducted from his salary, Gabriel Seeta is left with only R5,60 to last him through the month.
Last year Seeta was issued with a garnishee order by the maintenance court to pay R1500 a month for his three children aged between six and 16. He and their mother have since divorced.

Seeta started working as a sales consultant at another furniture store in September, and the maintenance court took money twice from his salary.
His pay slip from his previous job shows that R1500 was deducted on September 9 and he was left with only R5,60. His September pay slip shows that R2000 was deducted on September 29. He was left with R262,22.
"These people are taking more than 50 percent of my salary. How am I supposed to get through the month?" asked Seeta, who now lives with his sister in Vosloorus.
Patrick Sheshongo, a maintenance officer at Sebokeng, said: "He has to come to the court with the mother of the children and we can reduce the amount."
