Residents of Moutse have threatened to disrupt next weekend's voter registration campaign if the national government does not reincorporate the area into Mpumalanga.

The Moutse region, which includes Dennilton and Groblersdal, was incorporated into Limpopo by the Municipal Demarcation Board in 2006 - and its residents have been resisting the move ever since.

A meeting attended by stakeholders in Moutse at the weekend opposed the "forced incorporation" and called for the decision to be rescinded with immediate effect.

The meeting was jointly convened by the local branches of the SA Communist Party and the SA National Civics Organisation.

Seun Mogotji, Moutse secretary of the SACP, said: "We can't have normal national elections under this situation."
