Local Organising Committee communications chief Tim Modise remains confident that South Africa will deliver a great 2009 Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup.
In his exit interview, Modise said he was proud to have laid a solid foundation for the country to build on in the preparations for the two competitions.
Modise is leaving the Local Organising Committee on Friday after serving the body for four years. He is rejoining SAfm to present a current affairs programme.
"It feels great that I have been part of the great team where we started by establishing a communications and marketing division with competent staff members," he said.
"There are many national and international events that our division has successfully presented with other stakeholders. These include the 1 000 days countdown to the 2010 World Cup, the fourth anniversary of the World Cup announcement and preliminary draw.
"We also started a publication, Ke Nako, for the LOC, developed a website for the LOC and also assisted in the unveiling of Zakumi [World Cup mascot]."
"The LOC had also partnered with the departments of arts and culture as well as education in presenting cultural events and the Schools World Cup campaign.
"The good thing is that we are in regular contact with the host cities where we discuss a variety of issues to ensure we remain on track," said Modise.
"The LOC has also established a joint media liaison to deal with the issues relating to media and communications around the Confederations Cup and World Cup.
"One of the great things we have done was to bring people from football who went with us to the 2008 Euro Cup to learn more about organising big competitions."
