Bay United's surprise win over Mamelodi Sundowns in the Telkom Knockout has instilled confidence in the side ahead of tonight's home match against Platinum Stars at the EPRU Stadium .

The Absa Premiership game kicks off at 7.30.

The Eastern Cape outfit are determined to win all their home games, and believe that a win against Stars will enhance their chances of ending up in the middle of the table.

Their communications manager, Vuyo Mvoko said the league was important for them, and that they need to win this one at home.

Players such as Jermaine Christian, Duran Francis, Patrick Mayo and Cyril Nzama have formed a solid defence for the team.

Stars, meanwhile, have not been doing well since the league started. But they surprised all and sundry when they put on a spirited display against Ajax Cape Town in the Telkom Knockout last weekend.

They lost 4-3 on penalties despite having to play with 10 men after Joseph Mkalipa was red-carded while having a storming match.

But in their four league matches they have scored only three goals and conceded five.

Striker Hareaipha Marumo has struggled to rediscover his fine form .

Columbian striker Louis Renteria has also not been effective up front.

He missed a penalty that could have won them the game against Ajax.

But the return of Michael Kgaile and George Mofokeng from injury could be the perfect tonic for their defence.

"The two were the missing links in the team and their presence will bring stability to the side," said Stars' manager Thamaga Mokgophi.

Meanwhile, Santos are at home to Free State Stars in a league game at Athlone Stadium at 7.30pm.

The People's Team have two suspensions in Musa Otieno and Ryan Chapman but the side is determined to collect the full points at home.

Stars' manager Rantsi Mokoena said though it was going to be a tough assignment for them, the players were upbeat and looking forward to the game.

l Red-hot Lamontville Golden Arrows are looking at continuing their fine form when they host Thanda Royal Zulu at King Zwelithini Stadium at 3.30pm this afternoon.

But this is not going to be a walk in the park for Arrows.
