Two dedicated and hard-working senior police officers died in two separate accidents in Limpopo at the weekend.

Captain Malekutu Samuel Mamorobela and Captain Sammy Chauke of the Thabazimbi police station died when they allegedly lost control of their vehicles.

The two died in Zebediela and Thabazimbi, respectively.

Mamorobela, 40, died when he allegedly tried to avoid hitting an animal that was on the road.

Provincial police spokesman Superintendent Mohale Ramatseba said Mamorobela was traveling between Lebowakgomo and Zebediela when the accident occurred.

Ramatseba said Mamorobela started working for the Lebowakgomo SAPS in 1992 as a commander at the mechanical garage.

Chauke, 38, worked as a commander of the local criminal record centre in Thabazimbi.

Ramatseba said Chauke met his death when he lost control of the vehicle he was driving and it veered off the road.

He said the accident happened on the road near Regorogile at about 11.30pm on Saturday.

Chauke worked at the Thabazimbi police station Emndenfor many years as a fingerprint expert.
