Defeat is not an option for twinkling little stars Sipho Taliwe and Nkululeko Mhlongo tonight.

"Tsunami" Taliwe puts his number one ranking in the junior lightweight division on the line against Norman Tshisikhawe and "The Bulldog" Mhlongo risks sixth spot in the junior middleweight division against Lucas Mogane.

The two boxers are stable mates at the Westside Boxing Academy of Benny Pailman, Peter Faver and Cliff Martins.

Their fights will be presented by Peoples Promotions at Masizakhe Hall, West Driefontein Mine in Carletonville, North West.

Defeat will be costly, especially for Taliwe, who is a step away from challenging national champion Jasper Seroke. Taliwe's original opponent, Gabriel Phakula, pulled out after injuring his left hand. Jonas Mosaqa, his replacement, also pulled out.

"Quitters never win, and winners never quit," warned Pailman.

But Taliwe must be warned that Tshisikhawe is no push over.

The tough as nails fighter from Limpopo will best be remembered for hospitalising Henry Ngubane on September 5.

Marcel Japhta was initially Mbilase's opponent but Japhta's domestic problems forced him out.

Manelisi Mbilase and Thando Vukuza will top the bill tonight when they fight for the vacant SA featherweight title.

The belt was relinquished by Ludumo Galada in August just after winning the WBF strap.
