BOOST FOR UNIVEN TO FIGHT SKILLS SHORTAGE
Leading car manufacturer Nissan (South Africa) is concerned at the critical skills shortage in the automotive industry.
Nissan's corporate affairs manager Pat Senne said this as her company handed over a car and mobile laboratory to the Vuwani Science Resource Centre at the University of Venda yesterday.
The latest donation follows funding earlier this year of R1,3million to Univen to enhance the teaching of maths and science programmes to rural areas without science resources.
Senne said her company was inspired by the initiative to bridge the skills shortage in mathematics and science, and decided to become a partner to ensure that pupils from rural areas had access to resources.
She appealing to institutions of higher learning to provide solutions.
