It never rains but it pours for the former matron accused of 14 criminal charges against minors at the Oprah Winfrey Academy for Girls in Meyerton.
Yesterday debt collectors repossessed Tiny Makopo's car outside the Sebokeng magistrate's court in the Vaal.
Makopo was appearing in the court when collection agents from the FC Group came to reclaim her white VW Golf.
Sowetan has learnt that Makopo owed the loan company more than R17 000.
She bought the vehicle in October last year and has not made a payment since May.
Debt collector Ross Mofokeng confirmed the repossession and told Sowetan Makopo had eluded them after being told about the seriousness of her debt.
"I have tried many times to contact her but she was never available," Mofokeng said. "At first she gave me false information ... but I never gave up."
Makopo had entered into an agreement to pay monthly instalments of R1500.
Mofokeng said: "After I learnt she was to appear in court today [Wednesday] I got hold of her on the phone. I told her to bring the car to court so that I could collect it there."
On arrival outside court Makopo's friends handed the car keys to Mofokeng while she was inside court facing criminal charges that include indecent assault, common assault, soliciting a minor to perform an indecent act, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and crimen injuria.
She has pleaded not guilty.
The crimes were allegedly committed against six girls aged between 13 and 14 and a 23-year-old woman between March and September last year.
State prosecutor Etienne Venter yesterday said three of the five pupils would testify in camera, while adult complainants would testify in public next week.
Makopo could not be reached for comment.
