I was outraged by ANC KwaZulu-Natal secretary Senzo Mchunu's ranting ("KZN ANC spits war talk as Lekota gathers speed") in Sowetan of October 20.

I was outraged by ANC KwaZulu-Natal secretary Senzo Mchunu's ranting ("KZN ANC spits war talk as Lekota gathers speed") in Sowetan of October 20.

Mchunu warned ANC dissenters not to come anywhere near KwaZulu-Natal.

He also called on ANC members to attend dissenters' meetings with the purpose of disrupting them.

Shocking!

I still can't believe this comes from a senior ANC official. It explains Julius Malema's wayward behaviour. Not so long ago the ANC in the province claimed to be victimised by the IFP.

Now that it is in charge it shows intolerance for the opposition. Mchunu and his ilk surely do not belong to this modern society in which ideologies win votes not brawn.

He claims that in other provinces there are allegations of ANC members being attacked by dissenters. It is interesting that he is the only one with that information.

This is simply another strategy to persuade ANC members to unleash violence on the opposition.

Mchunu's statement came late since there is already an underground operation to recruit members. In due course shocking announcements will be made.

I am confident that the people of KwaZulu-Natal have become wiser and will no longer be used by self-serving politicians.
