According to an Adjusted Estimates of National Expenditure document tabled by Finance Minister Trevor Manuel yesterday, the money is for "agricultural inputs" to South Africa's bankrupt northern neighbour.
"[An amount of] R300million has been allocated for the recapitalisation of the African Renaissance and International Cooperation Fund programmes for agricultural inputs for Zimbabwe," the document says.
Addressing the National Assembly in his mini-budget, Manuel said the R300million would "assist in meeting Zimbabwe's short-term food requirements". - Sapa
