Residents of Green Village in Soweto will no longer use a container as a makeshift clinic after the opening of a new health facility in area.
They had been using the container as a makeshift clinic for 13 years. The new facility, Greenvillage Clinic, was opened yesterday and will cater for at least 68000 residents.
The R3,5million clinic will among other things cater for mother and child services and immunisations.
Facility manager Naomi Mogwane said: "I am happy that we finally have a proper building.
"The container used to be hot in summer and cold in winter. When it was raining we and our patients had to scurry for shelter."
