Bloemfontein Celtic and SuperSport United yesterday advanced to the quarterfinals of the rich Telkom Knockout to join Lamontville Golden Arrows and Ajax Cape Town who went through on Saturday.

Celtic advanced with a 5-0 routing of Santos at Seisa Ramabodu Stadium.

Matsatsantsa went through with a slender 1-0 win over AmaZulu at Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban.

Phunya Selesele pulled off a spirited display and deserve to win, writes Thabo Johnson.

Patrick Malokase scored three goals in the rout.

Celtic were awarded a penalty after Musa Otieno was adjudged to have rough tackled Malokase inside the box in the 40th minute.

Malokase stepped up to score from the resultant penalty (1-0).

The hosts increased the margin through Mark Mayambela in the 44th minute (2-0).

Otieno was sent off for a second bookable foul in the 57th.

Santos suffered another blow when Ryan Chapman was also given his marching orders after hacking Billy Ratsoane four minutes later.

Celtic forged ahead with a goal by Malokase after a cross from Moses Spandeel in the 68th minute (3-0).

Malokase completed his hat trick in the 72nd minute via a penalty (4-0), and Saul Mmethi scored the fifth in the 89th.

In Durban, United relied on the goal by Glen Salmon in the 51st minute to beat Usuthu after he was set through by Daine Klate, who delivered a pass from the left flank.

Usuthu defenders could have done enough to prevent the goal but they did little as Salmon beat a diving goalie Kalililo Kakonje from close range.

The goal inspired Gavin Hunt's charges as they surged forward in search of more goals but in vain.

Japhet Zwane nearly leveled the score but his shot was parried for a corner by Andre Arendse in the 84th minute.
