Siphelele Mthembu is rightfully a frustrated young man.

Siphelele Mthembu is rightfully a frustrated young man.

His frustration stems from the unnecessary delay over the completion of his case.

The former Maritzburg City player was probably blinded by the lights of the Golden City when he signed a pre-season contract with Orlando Pirates and later with Kaizer Chiefs.

The poor boy is eager to play, and the delay is fast frustrating him.

He played for Chiefs in the Vodacom Challenge and later in the Telkom Charity Cup in Mmabatho.

The delay did not only put him in a mess, but it also affects his game adversely.

I think Chiefs must swallow their pride.

I also think a meeting between the chairmen of the two team,Irvin Khoza and Kaizer Motaung, and his parents, should be convened.

The youngster also needs to be involved in the meeting and should be asked which team he wants to play for.

With the case now having been taken to appeal by Chiefs, the KwaZulu-Natal soccer star may not kick a ball this season.

Chiefs are appealing against the Dispute Resolution Chamber's verdict that stated that Mthembu was a Pirates player. They are adamant that Mthembu was not properly registered by the Buccaneers.

The youngster erred by signing for Pirates and later for Chiefs.

He needs to be pardoned and warned strongly not to sign any documents presented to him in future without consultation.

Mthembu is still training with Chiefs, which causes Pirates fans to wonder.

This saga is still going to drag on, probably until the season ends if nothing concrete is reached by the two teams.

Mthembu must be keeping his fingers crossed that an agreement is reached before the league reaches the half-way mark.

At 21, Mthembu is too young to find himself entangled in such a mess.

Let us hope that this case goes straight to arbitration and not appeal, where it may be resolved quicker than yesterday.
