The SACP provincial working committee yesterday suspended Justice Pitso, its former party secretary and MEC for roads and transport in Limpopo.

Pitso was suspended for bringing the SACP into disrepute.

This after he allegedly told an unauthorised media briefing that SACP general secretary Blade Nzimande was once a member of the IFP and must resign.

SACP provincial secretary Soviet Lekganyane said Pitso's utterances were "hogwash" with malicious intent to discredit Nzimande.

He said the statement was baseless, ridiculous and lacked substance.

"We wrote a letter asking him to a meeting to explain reasons for his utterances but he ostensibly chose to leave us with egg on our faces by dishonoring the meeting.

"We therefore want to put it on record that Pitso is suspended and that his membership will be regarded as null and void until his term of suspensions ends," he said at a media briefing at Frans Mohlala House in Polokwane yesterday.

Pitso's suspension was supported by the Young Communist League.

His suspension comes hardly two weeks after the ANC in Limpopo pleaded with premier Sello Moloto to recall him.

The ANC wanted Moloto to reshuffle his cabinet by firing one MEC whose department was not performing satisfactorily and Pitso's name was among those that topped the list.
