Saturday, December 16 2006, is a day Ajax Cape Town are trying hard to forget.
It was on this fateful day at the neutral Super Stadium in Atteridgeville that Silver Stars, now Platinum Stars, ran amok and showed Ajax the stars with an authoritative 3-1 win in the final of the Telkom Knockout.
Stars' goals were scored by Hareaipha "Simba" Marumo, with Bageta Dikulu scoring the consolation goal for The Urban Warriors.
Though it is almost two years since that match, Ajax still have fresh memories of that encounter.
They now want nothing but revenge against The Tycoons when the two meet in the last-16 phase of the tournament at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town tomorrow. Kickoff is 8.15pm.
Both teams have made several changes to their squads since the 2006 final and they are also under new coaches.
Tomorrow it will not be Owen da Gama (Stars) v Muhsin Ertugral (Ajax), but Miguel Gamondi v Craig Rosslee.
George Mofokeng, who manned Ajax's defence on that day, will be on the opposition's side this time round.
Marumo appears to have lost the gumption that made him the hero of that final and Stars' supporters cannot bank on him to steer the team to the quarterfinals.
Adding to their frustrations is that Stars have had a poor start to the season and there is little to suggest that they can beat Ajax, who have had a fairly good start to their league campaign.
Mabhuti Khenyeza is the hosts' trump card up front and he should start with Sifiso Vilakazi.
