Durban-based Olympic swim star Chad Ho passed on swimming tips to the youth of the Ntuzuma community in KwaZulu-Natal during the Fina-Arena Swimming World Cup road show this week.

The event formed part of the build-up to South Africa's hosting of the second leg of this world cup that takes place at the Kings Park Aquatics Centre in Durban tomorrow and Saturday.

"It is great that the Ntuzuma community have a quality swimming pool that so many of the youth from the community can make use of in order to take their passion for swimming to the next level," said Ho.

"The youngsters seem so interested in learning to swim properly, as swimming is such an important life skill which can save lives and generate a lot of fun."

Ho will be among a host of local and international stars who will be out to claim international points and prize money at the event.

Swimmers such as Sophie Edington from Australia and Randall Bal and Peter Marshall from the US will be up against a pool of local talent that will also include Rian Schoeman, Kathreen Neethling, Melissa Corfe, Thabang Mokoetsane and Garth Tune.

Mary-Jane Goebel of Swimming SA said the SABC has supported this world cup for the first time.
