Award-winning actress and radio personality Vatiswa Ndara, pictured, says she is honoured to have been invited to be a juror at the 36th International Emmy Awards in New York next month.
The Home Affairs actress has also been nominated for Best Performance by an Actress. The drama series has been nominated for Best TV Drama Series.
The series was a semifinalist in the Best Drama Series category in 2006. That year she won Best Supporting Actress for her role in the series at the inaugural Saftas
Nominations were announced last night.
Ndara plays Miriam, the drunken mother of Vuyokazi, played by Brenda Ngxoli.
Home Affairs focuses on women's stories that reflect the diversity of South Africa's women.
Ndara said the nomination proved that South African talent is being recognised internationally.
"I am honoured to be a juror at such a prestigious event," she said. "It shows that South African television is well regarded internationally, and that our contribution is appreciated."
Ndara also stars in Tsha Tsha, Generations, Nomzamo, Shooting Stars and Gazlam, among others.
The Emmy ceremony, which will be broadcast on November 24, is held annually to acknowledge actors, actresses and productions from all over the world.
"I'm happy that Home Affairs has been nominated again. I really hope we bring the award home this time."
The Metro FM Drive Time host said she was pleased that she did not have to judge any local nominees.
"The package I had to adjudicate contained productions from the UK, Brazil, China and Denmark."
