Superintendent Mzukisi Fatyela said yesterday the man was found dead in Bityi at about 8.30pm on Tuesday. He had burn marks on his back.
The motive for the murder was not known and was being investigated, but police suspect that an argument started at a nearby tavern.
The owner of the tavern was also being sought by the police, who want to question her because the dead man was found in her yard.
