Kaizer Chiefs are showing signs of nerves ahead of their Telkom Knockout last-16 game against the in form, speedy Lamontville Golden Arrows at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday.
It will be a test of endurance for Amakhosi who have not been doing well in the domestic league. But they continue to excel in cup games.
Their most recent cup victory was against Mamelodi Sundowns, who they beat on a penalty shootout in the final of the MTN8 Cup in Durban.
Now the "Cup Kings" are up against the young and organised Abafana Besithende who are determined to make history by winning their first cup in the Premiership.
Chiefs mentor Muhsin Ertugral said they were meeting a good and well organised Arrows side who have been doing very well in the league.
"They are a bunch of good and talented youngsters and are giving me some jitters. The side has a young coach, and they have very quick forwards. They are well organised in almost all departments. They are also good with their aerial balls.
"I fear two sides, Arrows and SuperSport. But seeing that we'll be meeting Arrows we're going to raise our level of performance a bit."
Ertugral added that striker Jose Torrealba did not train with the team because he sustained minor neck and back injuries.
"But he will be playing on Saturday."
The coach still has lots of faith in David Mathebula but feels the player needs to step up a gear.
"I had a chat with him and he understood what was needed of him. We need to be hard on him because we want him to grow from strength to strength."
Asked about Siphelele Mthembu, who is training with the team, Ertugral said the youngster was keen to play.
This despite the PSL's Dispute Resolution Chamber confirming that the player was a Pirates player, after a drawn out dispute between the two clubs. Chiefs are appealing the decision.
"We built him since last November and we believe that his heart and soul are with the team. He's not that perfect, but age is on his side and he needs to be polished," Ertugral said.
