The Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa (Contralesa) in the Mopani distric has accused the government of practicing segregation among headmen in three former Bantustan homelands.
Contralesa leaders raised this at a open meeting attended by members of the ANC provincial executive committee at Sekgosese outside Modjadjiskloof at the weekend.
Some of the traditional leaders told ANC chairman Cassel Mathale that headmen in the former Gazankulu and Lebowa governments were getting paid only R1080.
Contralesa's regional chairman Khebabeni Mahumani said the first category of headmen get R1080, the second R2500 and the third, which are those in the former Venda government, R3500 monthly.
