Shamed pop star George Michael has reportedly been dropped from next year's Brit Awards after his recent arrest for drug possession.

Shamed pop star George Michael has reportedly been dropped from next year's Brit Awards after his recent arrest for drug possession.

The troubled singer was allegedly lined up to receive the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award at the prestigious UK ceremony.

But Brit Award bosses are said to be searching for another candidate to honour after Michael, 45, was arrested by police in the Hampstead Heath area, north of London, in September last month.

He was found in possession of cocaine and marijuana.

A source told the British newspaper, the News of the World, that "George was frontrunner to get the lifetime achievement award".

The source added: "But Brits bosses felt it would be better not to be associated with him for the time being." - Wenn
