As an unexpected by-product of the broadcast fiasco for Bafana Bafana's match against Equatorial Guinea, it appears that Bafana matches will be broadcast live on SABC television from now on.
It has emerged that the public broadcaster and Safa have started exploring ways to bring the matches live, with kickoff at 8.30pm.
A source said negotiations were under way, though it could be too late for Bafana Bafana's friendly international match against Ghana tomorrow, as it would have been at short notice for the Ghanaians.
The weekend furore over the public broadcaster's failure to broadcast Bafana's match in Guinea also saw Safa chief executive Raymond Hack lash out at the SABC, accusing them of breaking contractual obligations.
SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago declined to address these comments, "for the sake of healthy stakeholder relations".
"But we have given them our report explaining how the hosts went out of their way to stop the broadcast of the match in South Africa," he said.
Kganyago said the report contains the SABC employees' account of how they were harassed and had their equipment confiscated and handed back a day after the game.
Morio Sanyane, Safa spokesman said: "We are always trying to get a happy medium and realise the challenges that the SABC have when it comes to these midweek games."
