Members of the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa may protest against Cosatu chief Zwelinzima Vavi when he addresses the union's congress in Vanderbijlpark, Sedibeng, this week.

Vavi is listed as one of the speakers to address Numsa's eighth national congress, which starts today and ends on Thursday.

Other speakers are ANC president Jacob Zuma, SACP general secretary Blade Nzimande, International Metalworkers Federation general secretary Marcello Malentacchi and Numsa's outgoing president Mtutuzeli Tom.

Numsa members have expressed unhappiness about Cosatu's move to charge the union's general secretary, Silumko Nondwangu, for being nominated for the ANC NEC in Polokwane last year. - Eric Naki
