Mpumalanga MEC for agriculture David Mabuza has suspended six directors in his department for fraud after fodder contracts amounting to millions were allegedly awarded irregularly.

Connie Mokgoka, Phillimon Mathebula, Musa Hlongwane, Skhumbuzo Nyambi and his deputy Tennyson Komape and Foster Maisane, a director in the department's legal services, were suspended with full pay pending the outcome of an investigation.

All claims submitted and payments made to the service providers under investigation had allegedly been "exaggerated" after contracts were awarded by the six to their cronies.

Department spokesman David Shabalala confirmed the six directors' suspensions.
