Candy Moloi, popularly known as the powerful Makhadzi in Muvhango, is leaving the soapie after 10 years.

Word of Mouth Productions has confirmed this.

The soapie producers were quick to add that the actress is leaving just for a season, with the option of coming back in the future.

Since the start of the popular soapie Candy has played the conniving and powerful Makhadzi in the Mukwevho chieftaincy and as the voice of authority to Chief Azwindini.

"Candy is an actress we've been proud to work with," said Muvhango spokesman Nonkululeko Ndlovu. "We're glad to see her spreading her wings to build her business interests."

According to Ndlovu, these changes come at a time when Muvhango is introducing several new characters based on a format of three-month story arcs.

"Just as Muvhango introduced James's flame Fikile, played by Mbali Maphumulo, for a three- month story arc, the producers intend to introduce powerful characters on limited story arcs to keep their audiences riveted to their seats."

Meanwhile, Vele the chief's wife who was ousted from Thathe after her affair with another man, returns to cause an upheaval among Azwindini's loyal wives, Pfuluwani and Susan.

The ravishing Vele, Maduvha Madima, will be like the proverbial cat among the pigeons when she returns to Thathe to undermine the good work of the other wives.

"Viewers will still watch her character until early next year," said Ndlovu.
