Government has failed masses

The message by Sopa president Lybon Mabasa is very powerful and a reminder to the masses that promises were made to them in 1994, 1999, 2004 and will no doubt be made again in 2009.

It clearly shows that the government is failing to deliver, not because of the huge number of people and challenges, but because of bad economic policies.

These policies have totally demoralised our society. We cannot afford to vote for privatisation or to give away our natural resources to foreign companies.

Our brothers are dying in the mines not to benefit the country but profit-mongers.

Stadiums are being built for 2010 but those doing the work are not being paid adequately, judging from the strikes they have embarked on.

Our people are forced to buy water, yet our government knows that because of the high unemployment rate people have no means to pay.

We were promised free education but children are expelled from schools because they can't pay school fees.

When they complete Grade 12 there are no jobs or money for tertiary education. Most people are living below the poverty line.

Black people are ignored. They talk of "Vuka uzenzele" but how can our people do this against such odds?
