Last week Sowetan published an article in which former finance deputy minister Jabu Moleketi was said to be part of a group of disgruntled ANC members forming a new party with former defence minister Mosioua Lekota.

Moleketi has brought it to our attention that he has never indicated that he was a member of the breakaway party, and that our reporter did not verify this with him before writing the story.

He said: "I must state once again that I have been a member of the ANC for 32 years and I am still a member of the ANC.

"In fact last night I attended my branch meeting, the name of my branch is Sonia Bunting."

Sowetan apologises to Moleketi for the inconvenience the article caused him.
