Nine men aged between 18 and 26 were arrested in Nyanga, near Cape Town, in connection with two robberies and murders, Western Cape police said yesterday.

Nine men aged between 18 and 26 were arrested in Nyanga, near Cape Town, in connection with two robberies and murders, Western Cape police said yesterday.

Captain Ntomboxolo Sitshitshi said six of the men were arrested on Monday and a further three on Tuesday.

The men allegedly twice robbed people in Browns Farm.

The first incident occurred at about 11.30pm on September 26. An 18-year-old man was shot and killed during the robbery.

The second robbery occurred at about 2pm on Sunday. A 22-year-old man was shot and later died in hospital.

A firearm with its serial number filed off was confiscated with five cellphones.

The men were to appear in the Athlone magistrate's court yesterday on several charges. - Sapa
