If you think you are funny and you are in Bloemfontein, the time of reckoning has arrived because the team led by comedian David Kau is in town.

Auditions for So You Think You're Funny will be held in Bloemfontein on Saturday. The recently launched comedy talent search, which has thus far unearthed a troupe of new comedy talent among South Africans, has passed the halfway mark.

Kau, the champion of the show, is a judge along with actress Moshidi Motshekgwa and fellow comedian Ntobeko "Ntosh" Madlingozi.

The trio has so far proved to be a vibrant combination that adds extra oomph to the show with judging comments that range between sympathy, motivation and harsh criticism.

So far auditions have taken place in Pretoria, Witbank, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Polokwane and Nelspruit.

In these cities, almost 300 people came to audition for the show. Only 32 contestants have made the grade - a clear indication of the high standards.

So You Think You're Funny aims to provide a platform for South Africans across the country to show off their comic talents. The winner will bag R100000 cash and an opportunity to work with Kau on upcoming projects.

The competition is open to anyone aged 16 years and older. All the auditions and elimination rounds will be shown on a 13-part TV series on SABC1 starting on November 11.

Contestants can perform anything ranging from stand-up comedy, singing, dancing, magic tricks to ventriloquism - but it has to be funny and make the judges laugh.
