Unions in the private security sector and employer organisations have formed a national bargaining forum.
The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) played a leading role in the establishment of the forum which would assist stakeholders in the sector to resolve disputes amicably.
The CCMA's director, Nerine Kahn, told a media briefing in Johannesburg yesterday that after the 2006 private security strike was resolved there was a need for "aftercare strategy".
"CCMA commissioners proposed the formation of a national bargaining structure," said Kahn.
She said it was encouraging that the private security industry stakeholders could bargain among themselves. - Kingdom Mabuza
