Comrades are behaving badly

The ANC constitution is unambiguous about the rights and duties of its members, who are required to be disciplined, honest and to loyally carry out the decisions of the majority and the NEC.

The ANC constitution is unambiguous about the rights and duties of its members, who are required to be disciplined, honest and to loyally carry out the decisions of the majority and the NEC.

The NEC, the highest body between conferences, decided after much deliberation to recall Thabo Mbeki, a decision the movement said was painful and not easy.

Members who understand ANC traditions will not say anything in public that contradicts or seeks to undermine the NEC. Mbeki himself said he respected the decision.

People who have served the movement for a long time are now embarrassing it publicly. What has changed? Is it disrespecting the NEC or just sour grapes?

I am particularly disappointed with Mbhazima Shilowa's utterances since Polokwane. The ANC in Gauteng had to tell him to refrain from his unbecoming behaviour.

He is entitled to his views, but as an ANC member he must know that criticising the party, its positions, activities or programmes, should be done within its structures.

Those who wish to form their own party are at liberty to do so. The ANC will continue and win the next polls.

To Mbeki, thank you for leading our nation and implementing ANC policies that have improved so many lives.

Phaladi Seakgwe, Tshwane
