Former ANC Youth League ) president Fikile Mbalula will become a man today.

His graduation ceremony will be held at his home at Botshabelo in Free State.

Hundreds of people from Eastern Cape, Western Cape and Gauteng, including comrades and family members, are expected to descend on Lorry Park in Bloemfontein to grace the occasion.

Mbalula, who shocked many people when he underwent circumcision at the age of 37 last month, successfully underwent the Xhosa rite of manhood at a site in Cape Town early last month.

Family spokesman and ANCYL national executive member Zizi Kodwa said yesterday that the Mbalula family will today host a pre-ceremony before the main ceremony tomorrow.

"We are busy with preparations," Kodwa said.

"The family will receive Fikile today (Thursday) and the ceremony will be tomorrow (Friday).

"A lot of people have been calling us saying they want to come and celebrate with him. It is going to be one of the biggest rituals in South Africa," he added.

The ritual also requires that the initiate sleeps with a woman to take away boyhood bad luck before sleeping with a woman he loves.

It is believed that the first woman who sleeps with the initiate will take all his bad luck, including getting a spell of bad luck by not getting married in her life.

Kodwa added that Mbalula would do everything that the Xhosa ritual expects of him as an initiate.
