The launch of the regional offices of the Industrial Development Corporation in Limpopo will bring the corporation one step closer to realising its objective of promoting entrepreneurship and industrial development.

This was said by IDC chief executive Geoffrey Qhena during the formal launch at the Meropa Casino in Polokwane yesterday.

He said the Limpopo office was one of the new regional offices the IDC was unveiling this year in all provinces.

The regional offices will work with all stakeholders in the development of strategies for the IDC to maximise its impact on the provinces.

Qhena said research had shown that Limpopo had potential for significant opportunities in agro-processing, tourism, mining and manufacturing, among many sectors.

"These are already among the major investments of the IDC's development funding."

The IDC is a self-financing, state-owned national development institution that provides finance to promote industrial and entrepreneurial development.
