The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal has expressed disgust at the submissions filed by the DA and the IFP in the Durban high court over the changes of street names.

The two parties went to court last month, appealing against the process of changing street names within the eThekwini municipality.

But Senzo Mchunu of the ANC said in a statement that "we are shocked".

"As the ANC, we would like to express our utter disgust in the court submissions . that the naming of the Umlazi road after Griffiths Mxenge is offensive.

"This smacks of DA politicking and the old apartheid racist hangover".
