The United Nations set several goals to alleviate poverty that had to be met by 2015. UN research shows that some goals will only be met by 2045.

The United Nations set several goals to alleviate poverty that had to be met by 2015. UN research shows that some goals will only be met by 2045.

One of these failed goals is a reduction of deaths in children aged under five. Unicef says 27000 children under the age of five die each day. Most deaths could be prevented with access to fresh water and sanitation. By providing fresh water and sanitation to informal settlements and low income residential areas the South African government will be doing much of what it promised when it said it would eradicate poverty. How hard can committing to one goal be?
