Simon Ngobeni, chairman of Tshwane North Football Foundation, said they will host their first project by staging the Amos Mkhari Diski Games from December 27 to 31.
Ngobeni, the former Transnet Football School of Excellence and Benoni Premier United general manager, said the event was part of the Fifa 2010 World Cup legacy projects.
"We all know that Amos was one of the greatest South African soccer stars, and spent a solid 15 years playing for both Witbank Black Aces and Orlando Pirates," Ngobeni said.
"The games will take place annually during the South African soccer recess. It is a concept conceived by Tshwane residents, driven by their passion and love for football and also a desire to change the lives of former professional players who have fallen on hard times since retirement.
"We want to establish a fund where the proceeds will be forwarded to identified legends on a monthly basis. This means we are going to raise funds to meet their objectives and the needs of their families."
Ngobeni said the foundation wanted to see competitive soccer continuously taking place in the townships post the 2010 World Cup.
