SAO PAULO - Brazil forward Ronaldo is reportedly still hoping to join Manchester City once he is fully recovered from his knee injury.

"I have talked to Manchester City and I know the doors will be open when I have recovered," Ronaldo said in Folha de S. Paulo newspaper on Saturday.

"But I will also give a lot of thought to Flamengo. My dream is to play for Flamengo. I will make my decision when I feel I have recovered." Ronaldo, who just turned 32, said his other big dream is to play in the 2010 World Cup in SA.

"This is something I want to do very much, but it depends on my recovery," he said.

Last week, Ronaldo told The Associated Press he was more focused on making a full recovery than finding a new team.

The three-time Fifa player of the year ruptured a tendon in his left knee in a Serie A match in February. He has been without a club since his contract with AC Milan expired in June, but said he would like to play in England or France.

"We've had some contact with Manchester City - I'm really interested, they're a great club," he toldThe AP.

For the past several weeks, Ronaldo has been training in Rio de Janeiro on the practice grounds of Flamengo, Brazil's most popular club and the team he grew up supporting. - Sapa-AP
