Sowetans are set to flock to the popular annual Soweto Beach Party, which has caused some controversy in recent years.

The popular beach party on Saturday attracts plenty of women scantily dressed in bikinis and year it was plunged into controversy when a woman was found dead near the venue.

Controversy aside, the party always attracts a bevvy of beauties who go all out to show off their bikinis and have fun.

This year the party has been moved to a more spacious venue: Mogale City's Coronation Park Dam in Krugersdorp (opposite the Kaizer Chiefs' new home).

The event, now called the Gauteng Beach Party, is expected to attract all the beautiful people from the township.

In 2006 the party caused great excitement among Sowetan readers when the newspaper published a picture of party-goer Zanele Majola showing off her assets.

The Coronation Park Dam will be transformed into an urban beach with 400 tons of soft sand.

So expect babes, cocktails, volleyball, a 4-a-side soccer match, the Miss Tropika Pageant, and a hot artist and DJ line-up to complete this seaside celebration.
