Another suspected ritual murder in Limpopo has shocked the community after the discovery of the body of a woman with missing parts.
The discovery was made in Gandlanani village, outside Giyani, at the weekend.
The victim, identified as Sibusiso Mkateko Rikhotso, 20, had no breasts and her intestines were hanging from a big hole in her stomach.
Police spokesman Superintendent Moatshe Ngoepe said they were waiting for the postmortem results to throw further light on the case..
Ngoepe said: "The postmortem results which will show if more body parts are missing from Rikhotso."
A man has been arrested in connection with the murder.
According to Ngoepe the man was positively linked to the incident.
"It is a real breakthrough to make an arrest so soon," Ngoepe said. "We really appreciate the assistance from members of the public."
Ngoepe said a special operation was immediately set up to investigate the matter after the discovery on Friday morning.
A 26-year-old man was arrested on Sunday and is expected to appear in the Giyani magistrate's court today on a murder charge.
Ngoepe said it was not clear what the motive for the attack on the woman was "but we cannot rule out the possibility of a ritual murder".
In 2002 Sello Chokoe, 10, of GaKomape village in Moletjie, died after his attackers cut off his hand and ear and removed part of his brain.
Chokoe's body parts and his attackers were never found.
Another victim, Nyelisani Sidimela of Shadani village near Thohoyandou, managed to escape after her attackers had cut off her lips.
