Santos coach David Bright is right not to undermine Moroka Swallows going into their Absa Premiership confrontation at Athlone Stadium on Wednesday at 7.30pm.
Bright, who turned Santos into a revered side when he joined them from Botswana last season, has warned that it would be foolhardy of them to read too much into Swallows' 4-2 defeat by Ajax Cape Town.
But the fact that their home boys, Ajax, were able to beat Swallows in that encounter should motivate Santos on Wednesday.
The People's Team go into this encounter motivated by their 3-0 demolition of Premiership first-timers Bay United at their last outing.
Against Ajax, Swallows pulled off a spirited second-half display and their bravery resulted in them scoring two goals.
If Swallows can start the way they finished against The Urban Warriors, Santos could be in serious trouble.
"I certainly don't think we are in for an easy encounter. Swallows are a strong side," he admitted.
"I think Ajax caught them early on in that game and they battled to find their rhythm in the first half. But they fought back bravely in the second half and scored two goals. That's a sure sign of the fighting spirit in their team. They don't give up and fight to the final whistle."
The hosts will have Jurie Basie, Bevan Fransch and Romano Scott.
Fransch, however, will need to work hard to unseat the impressive Marvin Oakes at left-back.
Lefa Tsutsulupa is on top of his game and should pose a serious threat to Bright and his troops.
Bidvest Wits, who walloped Santos 2-0 in their season opener and went on to draw 0-0 against Orlando Pirates, are favourites to beat Free State Stars at Milpark in another match pencilled in for Wednesday.
