The story of the Zulu people and the people of KwaZulu-Natal will be told tomorrow when Zulu monarch King Goodwill Zwelithini and provincial Premier Sbu Ndebele unveil the statue of one of the great Zulu kings, King Dinuzulu.

Launching heritage month three weeks ago, Ndebele said the unveiling of the statue symbolised nation building and national reconciliation.

"The story of King Dinuzulu is a story of courage, determination and sociopolitical transformation," he said.

Ndebele said it was "equally a story unfolding as Mahatma Gandhi was conceptualising his philosophy of Satyagraha".

"It is a story unfolding as Chief Albert Luthuli was born and as Inkosi Bhambatha Zondi and many other traditional leaders were taking up arms against the imposition of poll tax, Ndebele said.

"It is a story that was unfolding as delegations were sent to London in 1909 to protest the formation of the Union of South Africa to the exclusion of black people."

The king, members of the royal family and descendants of King Dinuzulu, traditional leaders and members of the provincial cabinet are expected to attend.
