Lusaka stadium in KagisoSwanieville, near Mogale City, will be a cauldron tomorrow when eight leading secondary schools battle it out for the two Gauteng berths in the Vodacom Under-16 Interschool Challenge.

Tomorrow's regional championship will mark the end of the provincial battles that will be followed by the national championships from October 1 to 4 at Safa Development Centre in Klipspruit, Soweto.

The national champions will take home R200 000 and further represent the country during the Under-17 Schools World Championships in Turkey from April 3 to 13.

Crowds are expected to cheer on local favourites Mosupatsela. The other schools in the hunt for the provincial glory include Rosina Sedibana, Johannesburg High, Highlands North, Lamola, Sijabulile, Mohloli and the Safa Transnet School of Excellence.

Forming part of the build-up to the provincial showcase, supporters will share in the Ultimate Vodacom Soccer Experience.

The road show comprising competitions, promotional giveaways, music and entertainment at Mosupatsela at 11am and Kagiso mall at 3pm all today.

"We are proud to be part of the process of creating great soccer stars of the future," Romeo Kumalo, Vodacom's commercial executive director, told Sowetan yesterday.

"This tournament is a further demonstration of our passion and commitment towards the development of soccer in our country."

Meanwhile, Eastern Cape will also round up the Mille Cup tomorrow at Grahamstown sports grounds.

The provincial championship is open because all the seven schools have never played at this level before.

The schools are Johnson Ngqongqoza, Charles Morgan, Philgat Mzazi, Zimele, Molefe, Moletswai and Brooksnaks.

"We expect tough contests from both tournaments as the schools are preparing for the national championships," Themba "TT" Tshabalala, tournament coordinator said.

"We further would like to thank the teachers for their support and commitment displayed throughout."
