Generations' much-loathed Casanova and heartbreaker Adam and his junky girlfriend Portia have left the soapie.

Adam, real name Tshepo Mosese and lover Phuthi Mngqibisa, who plays Portia, are history because the producers of Generations have no more plans for their characters.

The controversial characters of the two actors kept Generations fans glued to their screens.

Mosese, who is a reverend's son in real life, had a very successful tenure at the soapie and the news will break many fans' hearts.

A source close to Generations said the scriptwriters could not develop the story line and roles any further.

"Their deal was short-term anyway."

Generations spokesman Constance Mokhoantle said Mosese and Mngqibisa stopped shooting about a month ago.

"They were guest artists," Mokhoantle said.

"The story line had to come to an end. We might or might not see them again.

"It will depend on the scriptwriters."
