Easthigh Academy captain Linda Lubisi doesn't see Tikhontele Secondary School stopping their defence of the title in the soccer section of the Silulumanzi Cup for Mbombela high schools.

The final takes place at KaNyamazane Stadium at 2pm tomorrow.

Speaking at a media briefing at Silulumanzi headquarters in Nelspruit on Tuesday, Lubisi said: "It will be the first time playing against Tikhontele in a school competition but we are adamant that we will beat them and defend our title."

His counterpart at Tikhontele, Goodman Lubisi, said it's time they reclaim the trophy they have borrowed Easthigh for a year.

"We were the champions in 2006 and we failed to defend it last year as we borrowed the trophy to Easthigh. So come Saturday we are going to reclaim it," said Lubisi.

The tournament is contested by schools around Nelspruit in both netball and soccer.

In netball rivals Khutsalani Secondary School and Silingane Secondary School meet in the final. Thulasizwe Mazibuko, Khutsalani captain, boasted that they are going to play for formality.

"They [Silingane] said that we are dominating them and I don't remember when was the last time they beat us. We beat them 25-4 last week in the final of the JVM competition and we will embarrass them again on Saturday."

Lifa Matsane, Silingane captain said: "History counts for nothing in the final and we will not be intimidated by their previous dominance. Come Saturday we are going to turn the tables."
