All is not well with softball in the Gauteng North area again, with TUT Randacting in a questionable manner.

The institution, which has been campaigning in the Bojanala Softball League, decided to join Softball Gauteng North last season.

When the league reopened for this season two weeks ago, an opening rally was organised, but TUT did not attend. On Sunday the league kicked off with its first matches of the season. Again, TUT were nowhere to be found.

TUT Rand softball chairman Molemi Nong defended the institution's discourtesy by first saying they had intended to attend the meetings but were unable to get transport on time.

But he added: "We have not received our clearance from Bojanala yet, so we can't be playing at SGN. We also were not contacted directly.

"I understand SGN communicated through Frans Maubane, who is presently not part of our committee. He told me to apologise but the league did not communicate with me directly, so I will not be apologising."

Maubane is the former TUT Rand chairman.

A disappointed Andre Wessels, president of SGN said the matter will hopefully be resolved this evening in a meeting between the two parties.

"It is disturbing. Its always difficult as we can be called racists when we take action. As our new members we would not want to lose them. We will however read them the riot act tonight."

Softball South Africa president Guillo Marapyane said Rand belonged in the Gauteng North league, not Bojanala, which is in North West.

"We will have to take the matter up with our executive committee and our transformation desk," Marapyane said.
