Seat bows out but Hummer, Peugeot rev up

This week we woke up to the news that Seat SA is closing shop.

For those who bought into the brand, firstly, congratulations on your choice.

Seat cars, particularly the FR and Cupra versions, are breathtakingly entertaining and super-quick. Parent company VW says it will honour the warranties of all the 2600 cars it sold since 2006.

I'm doing the rounds in a Peugeot 307 CC. You might not agree with me but I think it has managed to escape the stigma of being a girl's car, or a boy girl's car.

It's an underrated performer with GTI boys finding it a bit difficult to run away from.

But its 308 big brother is a special thing. To put it in simply, it's a very convincing alternative to the usual stable of VW Golf, Opel Astra and Mazda 3.

I found that a new Peugeot dealer in Woodmead has some mouthwatering specials. This dealer has shaved R20000 off the price of its new 308 range.

While still on decreasing prices, a little bird told me that this is a great time for anybody who's always wanted a new Hummer H3.

The order is out that they must be priced to sell at about a R60000 discount.
