No magistrate, muti killing case delayed

The alleged "muti" killing case of a 17-year-old Mpumalanga schoolgirl has been postponed because no magistrate was available.

The case involving Johannes Mbonani, 24, and his 15-year-old female co-accused - charged with the murder of Ntombifuthi Masela, 17, a pupil at Botleng High School in Delmas - was postponed to October 2 2008.

Advocate Mphafolani Koma for the accused, said the postponement was due to no magistrate being available.

Koma said the two would apply for bail on that date.

The girl's body was found floating in a local river two days after she was reported missing. The corpse had a stab wound in the neck.

After the couple's arrest in connection with the murder, police also arrested a local inyanga, Carlos Makwakwa. He was, however, later released pending the outcome of further investigations.
